Peguera, Cala Fornells & Camp de Mar

Peguera was, for many years, very popular with the German tourist and resident – however, the financial downturn in the German economy has meant that the village has become more cosmopolitan in recent years with the big influx of British buyers. The main street that runs through the village has been pedestrianised and converted into a beautiful, tree-lined boulevard that accesses lots of classy shops, dining places and live music venues. The resort is popular with excursionists and walkers too as it is close to some beautiful, country walks through the flower-covered Capdellá valley. There are two beaches just off the main street.

Cala Fornells ('Cala Forneys') is really part of Peguera and consists of two small, pretty coves, around which a little development has sprung. Very quiet in both summer and winter, but very pretty and just minutes from Peguera.

Camp de Mar is actually not in Calviá County, but right on the border with Andratx County. (Pronounced 'And-ratch' – definitely not 'Anthrax'...) This tiny coastal hamlet has grown considerably over the years and the completion of the new Golf Course has encouraged the building of several new, quality developments. The hamlet's claim to fame is its most celebrated resident, Claudia Schiffer. (Michael Schumacher is rumoured to own a property here too.) The little bay has a wide beach and is serviced by a quaint restaurant on a tiny island just 50 metres or so off the beach, which can be accessed by a little bridge or by swimming there. Camp de Mar is still only 20 minutes from Palma City.
