Illetes to Bendinat
Leaving Palma, the first encounter with Calviá is the resort of
Illetes, only 6km from the City. It joins with C'as Catalá, an upmarket
suburb of Palma that rises high above the coastline. A couple of
kilometres along the road we come to Bendinat, which really came to the
fore some years ago when the prestigious Anchorage Club was completed. The
high-quality development has continued with prestige homes overlooking the
Bay of Palma and the Royal Palace of Marivent, summer home of HRH Juan
Carlos and Queen Sofia.
The Royal Bendinat Golf Club has recently been extended to 18 holes,
and the increase in home buyers has encouraged development of a new
shopping area and a motorway link through the new Bendinat Tunnel. The
area is close, too, to the village of Genova, recognised as one of the
gastronomic jewels of the island.
